Why track blood sugar & a1c in ClinicalTools
A glucose number on its own is almost meaningless — 130 mg/dL is fine two hours after dinner and worrying first thing in the morning. ClinicalTools asks for the context with every reading and shows the normal range for that context right next to the entry field, so you always know where you stand.
Readings are stored in mg/dL and displayed in either mg/dL or mmol/L with a single toggle, which matters if your endocrinologist and your meter disagree on units. Each reading is labelled Low, Normal, Elevated or High, and anything under 70 mg/dL triggers a hypoglycemia warning banner.
Alongside day-to-day glucose you can log your lab-measured hemoglobin A1C. The app converts it to estimated average glucose (eAG) with the standard formula and classifies it as Normal, Prediabetes or Diabetes using American Diabetes Association thresholds.

What the Blood Sugar & A1C tool does
Fasting, meal and bedtime contexts
Every reading is tagged with when it was taken, and the app shows the matching normal range: 70–99 fasting, 80–130 before meals, under 140 after meals, 100–140 at bedtime (mg/dL).
mg/dL and mmol/L
Switch units at any time. Values are converted precisely (1 mmol/L = 18.02 mg/dL) so nothing is lost.
A1C with estimated average glucose
Log each A1C result and see the eAG (28.7 × A1C − 46.7) plus the ADA category: under 5.7% Normal, 5.7–6.4% Prediabetes, 6.5% and above Diabetes.
Medication and insulin notes
Record what you took around a reading — for example Metformin 500 mg or 10 units of insulin — so you and your doctor can connect doses to results.
Hypoglycemia alert
A reading below 70 mg/dL (3.9 mmol/L) shows a prominent low-glucose warning with guidance to treat it.
Colour-coded history
Scroll a history of readings with Low / Normal / Elevated / High status icons, and a chart with the 140 mg/dL line for quick pattern spotting.

Ranges are for screening context only. Treatment targets for people with diabetes are individual and set by a clinician.

Does it connect to my glucose meter or CGM?
No. ClinicalTools is a manual log: you type in the reading from your meter. It works with any meter or CGM display and never needs Bluetooth pairing.
How is estimated average glucose calculated?
From the standard ADAG formula: eAG (mg/dL) = 28.7 × A1C − 46.7. An A1C of 6.0 %, for example, corresponds to an eAG of about 125 mg/dL.
Can I use mmol/L?
Yes. Toggle between mg/dL and mmol/L at any time; readings are converted automatically.
Is my glucose data private?
Completely. Readings are stored on your device and in your own iCloud account if sync is enabled. There is no account and no server run by us.
