Why track sleep log in ClinicalTools
Sleep clinics still ask patients to keep a written sleep diary, because the numbers a wearable produces mean more alongside what you drank, when you exercised and how you felt on waking. ClinicalTools is that diary, with the numbers included.
Each night you record bedtime and wake time — the app works out duration — and a quality rating from Poor to Excellent, with notes. Tag any of ten factors that might have played a part: caffeine, alcohol, exercise, screen time, stress, a late meal, a daytime nap, medication, illness or travel. Over a few weeks the pattern usually becomes obvious.
If you wear a sleep tracker, add its data to the same entry: average and minimum SpO₂, deep and REM minutes, number of awakenings, and the device's own sleep score with the device name. Nights of seven hours or more count toward a streak, and the whole log writes to Apple Health and exports to PDF.
Three steps, every time.
Log the night
Bedtime, wake time and a quality rating. Add notes and tag any factors that applied.
Add wearable data (optional)
SpO₂, deep and REM minutes, awakenings and your device's score, from whichever tracker you use.
Find the pattern
The chart colours short nights differently, and the ≥7-hour streak shows consistency.
What the Sleep Log tool does
Bedtime, wake time, duration
Enter the two times and the app calculates hours slept, flagging nights under six hours.
Quality rating
Poor, Fair, Good or Excellent — the subjective measure a sleep specialist asks about first.
Ten sleep factors
Caffeine, alcohol, exercise, screen time, stress, late meal, daytime nap, medication, illness and travel, tagged per night.
Wearable fields
Average and minimum SpO₂, deep and REM sleep minutes, awakenings, device score and device name — Garmin, Oura, WHOOP, Withings or any other.
Seven-hour streak
Consecutive nights of seven hours or more build a streak that is easy to protect.
Apple Health and PDF
Each night is written to Apple Health as sleep, and the log exports as a PDF or in the Doctor Share report.
For insomnia, sleep apnea follow-up and shift workers
If you have been referred to a sleep clinic, arriving with a completed diary saves weeks. People on CPAP use the SpO₂ and awakenings fields to see whether treatment is working. Shift workers and frequent travellers use the factor tags to work out which habits are actually costing them sleep.
Your sleep log data stays yours.
No account, no login, no server run by us. Data lives on your iPhone or iPad and, if you turn on iCloud sync, in your own end-to-end-encrypted iCloud account. Every export and share is something you start.

Does it work with Apple Health?
Yes. Each night is written to Apple Health as a sleep-analysis sample.
What counts as a streak?
Consecutive nights with seven or more hours of sleep.
